2027 Yamaha YZ250
Two-Stroke Power. Pure Motocross Performance.
The 2027 Yamaha YZ250 is a legendary two-stroke motocross machine built for riders who want hard-hitting power, lightweight handling, and race-ready performance. Combining Yamaha's proven 249cc two-stroke engine with advanced KYB® suspension and a lightweight aluminum chassis, the YZ250 delivers the raw acceleration and responsive handling that make two-stroke motocross so exciting.
At the heart of the YZ250 is a 249cc liquid-cooled, reed-valve-inducted two-stroke engine featuring Yamaha's patented Power Valve System (YPVS). The YPVS helps deliver crisp bottom-end response, strong mid-range acceleration, and a broad, hard-hitting powerband across the rev range.
Responsive Two-Stroke Performance
A 38mm Hitachi Astemo® Keihin PWK38S carburetor provides precise fuel and air delivery, while carbon fiber reed-valve petals help improve throttle response and engine performance throughout the RPM range. The digital CDI ignition system delivers precise spark timing for strong, responsive performance.
The close-ratio five-speed transmission and multiplate wet clutch are designed for smooth, confident gear changes and the demands of competitive motocross.
Race-Tuned KYB® Suspension
The YZ250 features Yamaha's highly regarded KYB® Speed-Sensitive System inverted front fork, fully adjustable with 11.8 inches of travel. A fully adjustable KYB® rear shock provides 12.4 inches of travel, giving riders extensive tuning capability for different tracks, terrain, and riding styles.
Lightweight Aluminum Chassis
Yamaha's advanced aluminum frame and swingarm are engineered to provide a precise balance of stability, traction, and cornering performance. The YZ250 weighs just 227 pounds wet, making it a highly responsive platform for aggressive motocross riding.
Slim bodywork, a flat seat, narrow fuel tank, and freedom-of-movement ergonomics allow the rider to move easily around the motorcycle while maintaining control through corners, jumps, and rough sections.
Race-Ready Braking & Tires
The YZ250 is equipped with a 270mm hydraulic front disc brake and 240mm hydraulic rear disc brake for strong braking performance and feel. Lightweight Excel® 21-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels are paired with Dunlop® Geomax MX33 tires developed for motocross performance across a wide range of terrain.
